Labor day weekend is usually considered the end of summer. The last weekend to relax and soak up the last of summer’s great weather and a great time for family and friends to get together. Here are 15 Quick Fun Ideas For Labor Day Weekend. A list of some simple things you can do to wrap up summer in a special way!
- Host a Potluck or Barbecue. Food brings everybody together! This is one of the easiest go to. Share each other’s great cooking and enjoy the smiles of all your family and friends!
- Have an organized home improvement project. Why not use this time to get a home project done? It can also serve as a time to get together with friends and family you don’t get to see enough while being productive at the same time!
- Be generous, help out at a soup kitchen! Seeing someone less fortunate than yourself smile because of something you did warms the heart in a way that is indescribable.
- Visit the nearest national or state parks. This is an inexpensive way to enjoy some of the outdoors. Pack some lunches, pitch a tent and just soak up some of nature’s beauty.
- Go to a minor league baseball game. if you’re a baseball fan this can be a major treat. At this they usually go above and beyond to entertain their fans. You’ll also get to see all the major league prospects just before their September call-up to the major league.
- Have an outdoor oriented stay-cation. Instead of going to a trip somewhere expensive, plan a trip near you, and skip the hotel stay too. Plan a fun trip near you. Take a look at places near you that you usually don’t frequent, checking out a tourism guide can help here. Then go out and explore!
- Try something new. Is there something new you wanted to try but you’re always too busy? this can be a great time to try it! Explore!
- Help the kids host a lemonade stand. A lemonade stand just screams summer. The kids would love it and you’d be teaching them while they have fun. Bring out the little entrepreneurs in them while they have a blast!
- Explore your city. Most of us have a routine in the places we live. It is very possible to never have seen places we live near to that others pay to come visit! Go exploring this weekend!
- Have an evening Picnic. Pass on all the crowds and just enjoy a quiet evening picnic with your family.
- Sleep under the stars. When last have you looked up at the stars? Pull out the blankets, make it an outside backyard camp. If you have binoculars, great! And enjoy the beauty of the sky!
- Have a craft day with the kids. All kids love crafts. Find some fun crafts and devote a day to making your creativity go wild and enjoy it with the little ones. I promise you they’ll love it!
- Try a new recipe. How often have you seen a great recipe and it either stays on you Pinterest board never to be seen again or in you recipe book lost somewhere! Pull them out, and experiment with a new recipe. you might even discover a new favorite to add some variety to your cooking routines.
- Do nothing! Allow yourself one day of rest! won’t it be nice to finally get some rest. Life would be waiting there for you tomorrow with all of its busyness. Just take sometime for yourself and sleep! Take off all the technology and just relax for a day!
- Go fishing. If you’re a fishing enthusiast, this would be a great day to go fishing. Catch some fish you and the family can enjoy in a lovely dinner to wrap up the labor day weekend.
It’s still not too late. From my experience I’ve found sometimes late minute plans work out so much better than ones we put months into planning. Not to say don’t plan, but don’t think its too late to do anything! Go out there and have some fun!
