Continents And Oceans Of The World Matching Activity For Kids
This is a Continents And Oceans Of The World Matching Activity For Kids craft that I made for our homeschool. I wanted to give a more hands-on learning of the continents and oceans for the little ones. It is simple to make and gives them a hands-on learning of the Continents Of The World.
UPDATE: Since creating this I have added a simple compass at the bottom for her using permanent markers. I also pointed out North East and North West and South East and South West to her. However she said it might confuse her till she masters the main cardinal points. So I chose to omit them for now.
What you’ll need
- Laminator
- Thermal Laminating Pouches
- Velcro sticky back
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Sharpie
Steps
- Print out Continents and oceans of the world map free off Google.
- Draw a line horizontally through the middle to represent the equator.
- Print out the attached sheets with the continents and oceans. I did it in both colored and black and white. You can print them for free via these PDF links: Continents Of The World-Colored2 and Continents Of The World-Black and White2
- Laminate the sheets. (Give the marker on the world map a minute or so to completely dry)
- Cut out continents and oceans. I round the edges so they are not sharp for when the kiddos are handling them.
- Attach on Velcro backs. To get it to line up how I wanted it, I laid all the pieces onto the map first without Velcro. Then I stuck the Velcro onto the cut-out piece first. After, I lined up the exposed sticky backing just where I wanted it on the map, then press to stick on.
Hopefully, this can be a useful add-on for your homeschool.
