DIY Display For Flashcards
I love using flashcards. I understand it’s not everybody’s cup of tea though. The problem I’ve had is that since having my third daughter, I just wasn’t getting much use out of them. And well, it’s a battle zone for finding time around here these days.
Well, I used a lot of flashcards when I was teaching my first daughter letter blends, and she reads well. I would like my other kids to get the same benefit, so I needed a way to help make the process easier, per say. And that’s why I made this DIY Display For Flashcards poster. It may not be perfect but super functional and cost-effective to create.
Right now we’re using it for doing a lot of math. However, soon I will be doing letter blends with my kindergartener and continuing with my first grader. We just completed 100 easy lessons a few weeks ago. So now that my 4-year-old can read, I think she will be able to understand blends.
What I Used
- Poster Board
- Protective Pages/ Card Holders
- Duct Tape
- Clear tape
- Razor (maybe)
How I Made Them
- Choose poster board of choice and label your chart as desired
- Under your heading, line up four protective sheets in a square pattern, placing them as close to the edges as possible. Temporarily tack down with clear tape.
- With the remaining spaces down the middle, fold two more protective sheets and place them in the middle spaces. This should now give you four more extra pockets, single row, in the middle.
- Once you have it all lined up as desired, tape down with duct tape.
Points to Note
- When lining up the first row you may want to test flashcards along the way to make sure it lines up as you desire.
- When taping down try to use as a thin of duct tape that you can find. In just a few instances, you may need to split where the duct tape connects to the entrance of the openings. Simply to ensure you have the maximum opening available for inserting your cards.
Please check out the video to see how I made it.
The protective pages I used were from the dollar tree. They’re super thin but worked fine. However, I couldn’t find them again when I went looking recently at The Dollar Tree. I did, however, find this brand on Amazon and they seem like a much better quality. They are a stronger quality than the ones at the Dollar Tree (16 per pack). I got 100 in the box that I purchased on Amazon. So unless you’re going to use some of them for another project, please note it’s a lot.

Well, guys, I hope you try this if you use a lot of flashcards in your homeschool. You’ll get more use of them, I sure am!
Until next time, happy homeschooling!
