Interactive ABC And Numbers Wall For Two And Three-Year-Olds
Hi, guys in this post: Interactive ABC And Numbers Wall For Two And Three-Year-Olds, I would like to share with you my two almost 3-year old’s interactive ABC and numbers wall.
You can check this Instagram clip to see how much fun they can have with this. Or you can watch the almost 4-minute video on my YouTube channel.
I also want to say that we do not do this every day. If we get to go through this together systematically say once or twice a week, I am ok with that since she’s two, almost three years old.
What I like about this, is that It is very accessible. Which is good, when you have more than one kids right. So even if I don’t go through it with her, sometimes her sisters do. Or sometimes she would ‘plays’ with it on her own, if she’s in the mood.
Also, I have had this up for two and a half almost three months now, and I haven’t had any issues with any of the pieces being misplaced as yet.
How I Made It
So What I used were some Old ABC Streamers that we were not using anymore. They were from the dollar tree. I then used duct tape to attach them unto the wall. At the bottom is just an old numbers poster I had as well, also from the dollar tree.
I then printed some ABC’s and numbers I found online and laminated them.
I Then stuck Velcro to both sides. However, after her first use, I realized I needed a larger piece on one end to make it easier for her to attach. Otherwise, it would have just frustrated her.
And She Does…
She then
- selects a letter,
- identifies that letter
- and then says the letter sound.
She has made this into a game for herself. “Wher’s the R? He’s that way (pointing) then hops her way to the letter. lol… Kids
When we use the numbers at the bottom, it’s more straightforward. She says the name of the number, then she attaches it. When we use it for counting though, I don’t have her count every number set in one sitting. We would pick two maybe three and count out those.
Interactive ABC And Numbers Wall For Two And Three-Year-Olds – Short List
- ABC Streamers
- Numbers 1-10
- Duct Tape
- Laminating Machine– I have owned this one for over 2 and half years.
- Velcro Dots
- Industrial Strength Velcro
A Close Enough Option
Another way that you can do something similar to this, with maybe less work, is to use Bristol board or foam board. Stick the letters and numbers to the board. Then use 4 to 5 small pieces of Velcro and stick it unto the wall. That way its easier to take down when no longer in use.
Other Points
- As with putting anything else on the wall, it may or may not chip the paint. So please make sure that’s not an issue for you. It isn’t for me. I am used to touching up the walls.
