This week’s Kindergarten Bible Study was the story on Jonah. This is Lesson 7 in our Kindergarten Bible Study- My Bible Book for this school year. See Lesson 6 here.
This week our study was based on Jonah from the Bible. We also read the flashcard as we’ve been doing. After reading, we worked on her writing the sentences out. She then drew some pictures to describe each picture.
Her pictures this week were her thinking, Jonah in the ocean, Jonah praying and him washed up on shore. The last three pictures and what they represent are pretty straight forward this week. With the first picture though, it represented her thinking.
Sometimes how she thinks amazes me…
I continue to recommend My Take Along Bible, because I truly believe it laid a strong foundation in her mind about some of the stories in the Bible (Now that she is older we read The Jesus Storybook Bible a lot now). This week she amazed me with her first picture. She said, I am drawing myself thinking that when I don’t listen, I get punished and Jonah should have done the same thing. Just Wow!
For the event that you may want to re-create this study with your little one, I have detailed it out, leaving the links to the clip art printouts we used from the internet.
Kindergarten Bible Study-Lesson 7: Jonah
- Jonah did not follow God’s direction to go and preach in Ninevah. Image Used.
- He went on a ship going to Tarshish. God sent a storm. The sailors had to throw Jonah overboard. Image Used.
- God sent a great fish to swallow Jonah. He was there praying for three days and three nights. Image Used.
- When the great fish spit Jonah out, he obeyed God and went to Ninevah. Image Used.
See you again next week for Lesson 8. Have a blessed weekend:-)
Additional Notes:
- Use a good glue stick. I love the dollar tree. Unfortunately, those don’t work well for this to last long-term. And liquid glue is too messy. I am ordering some.
- I help her stick the photos unto the page to ensure room for our copy work.
- If my little one needs help in forming letters she might be struggling with or new symbols like commas, I am there to assist (with my coffee).
- I only do Bible study and her Brain Quest workbook as a more ‘structured’ form of learning on Mondays. This Bible study handles writing also, plus it’s a lot.
- You do not have to use the flashcards. I used them because I already owned them from a prior dollar tree purchase.
- The sentences are not exactly word for word from the flashcards. Most I have rephrased in easier words for her to understand.
