Mouse Soup/Using Newspaper Inserts To Help Learn Food Groups/Homeschool Vlog
Hi, guys!
Some homeschooling days go by smoothly, and you feel as if you achieved your homeschool goals for that day. Others, not so much. Well, this was a good day. One of my primary goals for that day was to go more deeply into food groups with the girls. And even though we talk about food groups regularly, I wanted to go over the written material with them. I was worried they would not have enjoyed using the newspapers. But to my surprise, they were engaged, and it all went well. They even asked to draw the food groups. So that went better than planned! I just expected them to cut, paste and label the food groups. But I am not complaining if they want more things to do!
The book we used was the Illustrated Elementary Science Dictionary . I really enjoy using some of the books from this series with the girls. They are a simple read and the bright pictures and “easy to understand” explanations are perfect for my soon to be 1st grader.
I also wanted to show how we teach kids of different ages at the same time. At the moment, I cater my group lesson plans to my eldest. My four year old mostly just listens and participates to her level. That might look differently, of course, depending on what we’re doing.
