Travel Potty, A Must For Moms-Update And Review
(Estimated reading time: 00:02:25)
Update: 4/13/2019
We have owned and loved this potty since August of 2016. It is still serving us very well. Is it perfect? By no means, but this is one of the best purchasing decisions I have made since becoming a mom.
My kids are now three, six and the eldest is going to be eight very soon. They are all under 50 pounds.
Pros:
- Portable
- Easy to set up
- Easy to use
- Cleaning it is easy enough. For on the go a quick wipe with some wet wipes will do great. (The Kirkland Wet Wipes are my favorite.) And for a more thorough clean rinse well under running water. You can also spray it with a disinfectant while cleaning.
- Good price
- Durable (see note under cons as well)
Cons:
- The opening of the seat is on the small side. I make sure that the kids are on there well, and they know to wait until I tell them it OK to go. Never had a miss to date. I do have three girls though. So I am unable to speak on how this would work for boys. (If you do have boys and have used this travel potty, commenting below can be helpful to other moms with boys.)
- Durability- This is not an issue for us because the girls are on the small side. So that might be something to keep in mind.
Would I recommend this? Most definitely:) We still use and love ours. Money well spent!

Exhilarating! That is my five-year old’s new word. Everything for her these days can “sometimes be exhilarating”….kids… That describes my feeling about our new travel potty. The little things that make you excited as a parent is so crazy. Anywho.
I am outnumbered three to one when my husband goes to work. Getting out the house with the kids alone involves having a plan drafted out. I mean, if I don’t, there is no question that the day will end up in a total disaster!
Part of that planning process for me is for those “I need to use the potty!” moments. Oh, and they’re coming. Both my girls always seem to need to use the potty at the same time. Anybody say stressful? If there isn’t one nearby, that is available to use, that becomes a family emergency. That’s why one of our tag-along for the longest time has been our three-year old’s training potty. It gets the job done at home for sure, but it is not the best for outdoor use.
Solution……Travel Potty
I saw this travel potty while shopping on Amazon.
After reading the reviews, I decided on getting one. They do use disposable liners. But, after seeing them, you can use some small trash bags from the dollar tree (double-up on them though). The ones I usually get come in a 50 count set. Put about two or three blocks of paper towels at the bottom for absorption. You can also use the one-gallon zip bags which fits snug around the mouth. The travel potty comes with four (in one of the storage compartments).
This travel potty would also be perfect for when we go on our nature walks! Our portable potty can fit at the bottom of our Baby Trend double stroller. And things don’t get messy. But, this travel potty would be so less cumbersome.
I hope this helps someone.
Last minute note: So I was able to use it today, before posting this and it worked wonderfully!
Until next time, take care.
