We Have To Move….. Homeschooling??? Tips For Homeschooling During a Move
So my family and I are moving again. Who likes moving? But it’s happening, and we’re trying to handle it as best as possible. Times like this, I am honestly grateful to be a homeschooler where I have more control over my schedule and can adjust so much more to suit life circumstances such as this.
My preference is that even with having to move, that we can keep some formal learning. I could only imagine how difficult it will be to check back into school mode after too long of a break. So I will be trying to minimize that as much as possible.
I already began making a few adjustments to how we homeschool during this period.

I Began Stretching Our Planned Curriculum
By this, I mean that I am taking a week’s worth of planned curriculum work and I am stretching it over a two-week period. I already did this once so far, and it worked out well. I am hoping to stick to this option as close as possible to when we have to pack everything up. That way we can stay on track with our curriculum, however at a much slower pace.

I Pre-planned By Setting Aside A few Things My First Grader Can Do Almost Entirely On Her Own
Once we get closer to actual moving day, I intend to close off where we’re at in our planner and switch to some pre-planned resources I have set aside. I should mention that these would not line up correctly with our curriculum. Especially math as we’re using Math-U-See. But I am ok with that. Plus maybe it will give her a chance to be exposed to a few new things, and we can see how she manages with that.
These are:
– Brain Quest Workbook: Grade 1
– What Your First Grader Needs To Know
– Two Chapter Books: Charlotte’s Web and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls- Rainbow Rocks
I mentioned in my video that I would be selecting two books for my second daughter who can now read simple books. I decided upon Pete The Cat: Pete at the Beach (My first I Can Read) and Willie’s Wonderful Pet. Mostly because of her age, my second daughter, is harder to convince to sit down and do work. So I am not putting too much on her to not stress everyone out…lol

They Will Both Be Using Time 4 Learning
I started using this program over the summer, and we still have it. We honestly don’t use it that often at the moment. Just during down times. However, because it is a more school-oriented electronic program, they would be using this also. Of course, there are tons of free apps that are educational. However, because we would already be doing light school, I prefer they work with a more school oriented program than one that may be harder for me to judge if they’re learning or simple playing.
Paying It Forward For A Time You May Need It….. Again
And that’s my plan for this period. I am hoping it works you guys. The last thing I would want is to get the feeling of falling behind. But then again, that’s the beauty of homeschooling. We can homeschool throughout the year and get right back up to speed.
But like my hubby would always say, it’s better to stay ahead, do it today because you might need the time tomorrow. So in that spirit, why not try to stay ahead as much as possible, that way we can do fun learning during the summer months, which am confident the girls will far prefer…lol
Well guys until next time, happy homeschooling!
